Bookkeeper Qualifications

A bookkeeper is responsible for managing the information about the finances of an organisation. The bookkeeping tasks include recording every financial transaction and producing financial statements used by the managers to understand operational costs, measure profits and plan business strategies.

Many training providers offer bookkeeper qualifications through a range of courses. Basic bookkeeping courses will cover sales, purchases, and payments, explaining which are debits and credits and how these should be recorded and processed, bank reconciliations, payroll and standard VAT calculation. More advanced courses cover end of year adjustments through journals, creating balance sheets and profit and loss statements, how to write off debts and other credit management techniques, through financial planning, management accounts and various VAT Schemes.

It is important to choose the right course and bookkeeper qualifications to gain the knowledge and develop the skills you need to progress your career. KBM Training and Recruitment run courses for the industry standard AAT Bookkeeper qualifications which can be combined with KBM’s own courses designed to develop an understanding and familiarity with widely used Accounting software (Sage, Quickbooks, IRIS, TAS & VT).

All bookkeeping training will stress the need for accuracy and explain the standard method of organising the financial records to avoid errors which can be costly for an organisation. Completing a course will give you the skills to work as a bookkeeper for an organisation of any size. Holding bookkeeper qualifications gives a clear indication to recruiters that you have the necessary skills for their vacancy.
